Lanh Giang Temple: Great potential in the tourism development of Ha Nam

Lanh Giang Temple has a huge potential as part of the region’s tourist attractions thanks to its location in the tourism hub of Ha Nam and the Red River Delta.

Located just 50 kilometers away from the center of Hanoi, Lanh Giang provides a spiritual tourism spot for travelers on the weekend, the full-moon day, the first day of the lunar month, the holiday, or during festivals.

It is also an important spiritual tourism spot on the itinerary of those traveling on the Red River. From Hanoi, one may travel downstream to the pottery village of Bat Trang, the eco-tourism/plantation complex of Van Giang, Da Hoa Temple (where Chu Dong Tu and Tien Dung are worshiped), shingle banks, Ham Tu Wharf, Tay Ket relic site, Bai Say relic site, Pho Hien Street, Lanh Giang Temple, Tran Thuong Temple, writer Nam Cao’s hometown, Thien Truong Palace, and Hung Ha District (where the Tran dynasty was founded), among others.

Lanh Giang is also an important provincial spiritual tourism destination. From here, one may travel by road to other historical, cultural, and natural sites of Ha Nam, including Doi Son Pagoda, Tam Chuc Ba Sao Pagoda, Truc Ngu Dong Son Temple, Tran Thuong Temple, and the center of Phu Ly City. Lanh Giang is close to the first stop on the itinerary Phu Ly – Tam Chuc Ba Sao Pagoda – Huong Pagoda – Bai Dinh Pagoda. There are many sight-seeing spots around Lanh Giang Temple, such as Le King Temple, Tran Khanh Du Temple, the pagoda where Tran Khanh Du lived and practiced, Nha Xa silk village, and antique houses dating back to the French colonial era.

Given the interest and investment of the local governments and people, the historical, cultural, architectural, and artistic values of Lanh Giang Temple will be preserved and promoted as part of the local tourism development. Lanh Giang Temple and relics, therefore, will become a crucial spiritual tourism destination in Duy Tien and Ha Nam.

On April 3, 2012, Ha Nam People’s Committee issued Decision 527/QĐ-UBND approving the detailed construction plan (drawn to the scale 1:500) of Lanh Giang Temple with an aim to systematically develop the temple into an attractive spiritual tourism destination for visitors.
